Jean Wilson Murray is a writer, teacher, and researcher with a longstanding interest in history and how our past has determined our world today. After many years of writing and lecturing on business law, entrepreneurship, and small-business management, she turned her attention to historical nonfiction and the lives of women whose experiences reveal courage, boldness, and determination in the face of societal limits and their circumstances.
Earlier in her career, she spent decades working with entrepreneurs and small-business owners, writing extensively on business law and management topics and teaching courses and seminars on starting and running a business. Her work has appeared in books, articles, and online publications focused on practical business guidance.
Women Without Limits grew from Jean’s fascination with historical accounts of women who stepped beyond the boundaries of their time. Drawing on historical accounts, memoirs, expedition records, and modern scholarship, Jean’s work seeks to bring these stories back into view and to place them within the larger narrative of history.
Through her website, her posts and research articles on her Substack site, and upcoming book, Women Without Limits: Brave, Bold, and Determined Women Across History, she explores not only what these women did, but how the limits of their time shaped their choices—and how determination allowed them to move beyond those boundaries to freedom and autonomy.
